From One Station to a National Factory: Scaling Digitization Without Scaling Headcount
Many archives assume large-scale digitization means handing collections to an external service provider. It doesn't. Drawing on recent NOA installations — from a single-operator PICO workbench to a 80 -line national broadcast factory — this session shows how institutions can run digitization entirely in-house: their own staff, their own building, their own schedule. NOA brings the know-how, the software workbenches, and — where needed — the playback hardware itself, so archives keep full ownership of their collections rather than outsourcing them. We walk through real deployment phases and the tangible in-house results each one delivered.

100 years of MWA: A Century of German Engineering for Film, Radio, and Television
MWA Nova GmbH traces its roots back to Mechanical Workshops Wilhelm Albrecht (MWA), a company founded in Berlin in 1926 by Wilhelm Albrecht. Over the decades, MWA became a respected manufacturer of professional film, sound, and television equipment, earning a strong reputation in the motion-picture industry. As the transition from analog to digital technologies transformed the market, the original MWA faced financial difficulties and entered insolvency in 2002. MWA Nova GmbH was subsequently established to continue the business, preserving the MWA brand, expertise, and engineering heritage. Today, MWA Nova develops and manufactures specialized film and audio scanning systems
used by archives, restoration facilities, and post-production companies worldwide, continuing nearly a century of innovation in media technology.
