About me
Audra Adomenas is an archivist and nonprofit leader based in Chicago. She is the founder and president of the Lithuanian Archives Project (LAP), established in 2009 and incorporated in 2012 as a not-for-profit organization in the State of Illinois, USA, dedicated to preserving, digitizing, and providing public access to materials documenting the global Lithuanian diaspora. Audra holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University in River Forest, IL (2005) and is a Certified Archivist. Her work focuses on safeguarding audiovisual and documentary heritage—especially recordings, oral histories, and cultural materials tied to Lithuanian immigrant communities worldwide. Ms. Adomenas is an active member of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) and the Diversity Task Force Committee since 2018, where she serves as Central United States Ambassador and contributes to global initiatives supporting audiovisual preservation and collaboration among archives. Her broader work emphasizes open access to digitized cultural heritage, community-based archives and diaspora history, and international collaboration among archival institutions. She has also presented at conferences, served on archival boards and committees, and worked on projects supporting archival development in underserved regions throughout Europe, North America, and Africa.
