Helen Grogan is an artist, curator, researcher, and lecturer based in Amsterdam and Naarm/Melbourne. She is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis, University of Amsterdam (2026–2027), and a Samstag International Visual Arts Scholar (2025–2026), researching how critical artistic practices work through or against institutional documentation as means of connection and resistance. Her work has been presented by the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Tbilisi Triennial, Biennale of Sydney, Rijksakademie, Gertrude Contemporary, Ian Potter Museum of Art, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Knulp, and the National Gallery of Victoria, among others. She frequently collaborates on critical documentation and archival initiatives, including current projects with de Appel Archive and the sound art organisation Liquid Architecture (as
openpracticestudio.org). Helen is acting Vice-Chair of IASA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
